Aim:
To perform the assay of Ibuprofen.

Theory:
Ibuprofen Tablets contain not less than 95.0 per cent and not more than 105.0 per cent of the stated amount of ibuprofen, C13H1802. The tablets are coated.
Usual strengths: 200 mg; 400 mg; 600 mg.
Category: Anti-inflammatory, Analgesic.
Dose:
600 mg to 1.2 g daily, in divided doses, after food.
Description: A white or almost white, crystalline powder or colourless crystals.
Assay:
1. Weight 0.4 gm, dissolve in 100 ml of ethanol (95%) and titrate with 0.1 M sodiumhydroxide using 0.2 ml of phenolphthalein solution as an indicator.
2.Carry out a blank titration.
Factor: 1 ml of 0.1 M sodium hydroxide is equivalent to 0.02063 g of C13H1802.
Storage:
Store protected from light and moisture.
Uses:
It is used as anti-inflammatory and analgesic drug.
